Welcome
to the Cylinder & Slide WWW Site!
Thank you for your
interest in our WWW site. I would like to give you an
overview of our procedures and goals when building you
a custom handgun.
We do not use a production line method to build your
handgun. Each handgun is built one at a time, by one
pistol smith, to your specifications. Please
don't ask for a rush job. There aren't any.
I believe that reliability is the #1 factor in all
handgun modifications. There's a balance between
reliability and accuracy that must be maintained. A
handgun that is capable of 3/4" accuracy at 50
yards is worthless unless it functions every time. A
handgun that is capable of 1 1/2" to 2"
groups at 50 yards AND functions every time is
worth its weight in gold.
There are many variables that enter into the equation
of reliability and accuracy. These variables are
ammunition, a clean handgun, proper lubrication, and,
in a semi-auto pistol, good magazines.
I have found that reloaded ammunition is most often
the cause of poor accuracy and malfunctions in both
revolvers and semi-auto pistols. We can only guarantee
function and accuracy with factory loaded ammunition.
We ask that you specify the factory ammunition that
you will use the most in your handgun. This way we can
use that ammunition in our testing to be sure it
functions perfectly with that ammunition. After your
handgun is completed, we test fire it extensively. We
use factory Winchester, Federal, Remington, CCI,
Speer, and Cor-Bon ammunition in our test fire
procedure. We also test fire with commercially
remanufactured ammunition for some specific bullet
types. Improper lubrication and not keeping the
handgun clean are the next biggest causes of
malfunctions in semi-auto pistols. Bad magazines are
the third leading cause of malfunctions in semi-auto
pistols.
You must specify the primary use of your
handgun. If it is for defense, it will be set
up differently than a handgun used in competition.
We do not deactivate any safety systems.
If we receive your pistol and one of the safety
systems has been deactivated or is not working
properly, you must allow us to reactivate or repair
the defective safety system or we will not work on
your pistol.
If you send us a handgun that has been modified by
another shop and the modifications do not meet our
specifications, you must allow us to change those
modifications to our specifications. We will charge
you accordingly.
We stand behind our work 100%. If you have a problem
with your handgun after we have worked on it, all you
have to do is let us know and we will take care of it.
If you allow someone else to work on your pistol to
correct a problem we cannot honor our pledge of 100%
satisfaction.
I am available for consultation on the modifications
that you would like to have done to your handgun from
9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Please call
402-721-4277 for consultation. You may also e-mail me
with your questions at bill@cylinder-slide.com.
I will answer as soon as I can, however, due to the
extremely large number of inquiries, it may take a
week or more for my reply.
The information contained on our web site does not
include all of the information in our catalog. Our
complete catalog contains 60 pages of information on
the customizing your handgun, technical information of
all types, and the custom parts and accessories that
we offer. I would encourage you to order our complete
catalog for only $5.00. To order CLICK
HERE!
Thanks again for choosing our WEB site. I look forward
to serving you.
Best regards,
