Trident
A Complete 1911
The Trident 1911 pistol was developed by Bill Laughridge and a career
Operator. The need for a pistol that
will function under all types of field conditions was realized after the
Operator saw all of the various makes of tactical pistols “choke” in real world
situations and conditions. Bill’s 30+ years experience in building the 1911
pistol and the 20+ years of real world tactical experience of a career Operator
resulted in the development and production of the Trident 1911 Pistol.
The Trident is completely hand fitted and has only the essential, battle
tested features needed on the 1911 platform to provide a totally reliable close
quarter’s combat weapon. You will not find many of the “Must Have” features
found on tactical 1911 pistols designed for urban street use. We have found
that many of these “Must Have” features detract from the reliability and
ergonomics needed in a 1911 pistol that is designed to function flawlessly in
the world’s most hostile environments.
The Trident has been coated
with the Fail Zero finish that allows the pistol to operate without
lubrication. The absence of lubricant
keeps the pistol from attracting “moon dust” and seizing up in desert operations. The Fail Zero finish also provides
unequalled rust protection and allows the pistol to function reliably during
extended fresh or salt water operations. This finish does not allow carbon
residue to stick to the surface so cleaning the pistol is quick and easy in a
field environment.
For those who do not need the added protection of the Fail Zero finish
the Trident is available with the traditional parkerized finish with a
corresponding reduction in price. The
parkerized pistol does require proper lubrication.
The Trident is test fired at 15 yards after the initial build for
function and zeroing of the sights. The
front sight is sent out for the tritium insert with white ring and the pistol
is sent to Fail Zero for the finish or parkerized in house. After the pistol has had the finish applied,
refitted as needed, and the front sight is re-installed the pistol is test
fired a second time for a final function check and to recheck the zero of the
sights. Both 7 round magazines are
fully loaded and fired twice during both test firings. The minimum number of rounds fired during
both test firings is 56 rounds. A further 200 rounds must be fired by the
purchaser to completely break in the pistol.
Trident Build Features
Springfield 1911A1 45 ACP Pistol
We have found that the Springfield 1911A1 45 ACP
Parkerized pistol is the finest basic 1911 pistol platform on the market. We use this pistol as our platform to build
on because of the quality and to keep the final costs down.
Slide
Complete internal deburring, polishing and radiusing
of critical working surfaces, front cocking serrations for safe press check,
checked for proper heat treatment
Barrel, Springfield
1911A1 45 ACP
This barrel has proven to provide 1.5”-1.75” accuracy
at 25 yards when fitted with a proper bushing and link, properly throated, 11
degree crown, checked for proper heat treatment
Bushing
The barrel bushing is fitted finger tight to the slide
for a no tool take down and given enough clearance to the barrel to provide the
accuracy without sacrificing reliability, checked for proper heat treatment
Sights
Heinie “Ledge” rear sight with cocking ledge, Cylinder&
Slide Strong Sight dovetail front sight with supported blade pinned to slide. The C&S Strong Sight front sight with supported
blade greatly reduces the possibility of the front sight blade breaking off
during building clearing. Trijcon
tritium insert with white ring installed in the front sight for night
operations.
